Things to Do During Your Off Time in Charlottesville

When you are staying in furnished apartments for an extended period of time, it feels a bit like you are living in the area, so why not act like it? After all, just because you’re visiting Charlottesville, Virginia for business, doesn’t mean that you won’t want something to do on weekends.
While this beautiful city is best known for being the home of two of the earliest Presidents of the United States, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe, there’s a lot more to see here than just Monticello (though that is, admittedly, fabulous). Here are some things you can check out while in the area.
Arts and Entertainment
While this city is only a fraction of the size of Manhattan, Charlottesville has an arts scene that anyone can appreciate. Fans of the Dave Matthews Band are thankful for this city because it is here, at the Downtown Mall, that Dave Matthews formed his band while bartending. Other musicians like Jay-Z, Kenny Chesney, and Elton John have performed in this city in either the Paramount Theater or The Southern. Charlottesville can also boast that it is the home of world-renowned artist, George O’Keefe. Be sure to visit the dozens of art galleries and museums the city has to offer.

If you appreciate the taste of fresh food, then you’re sure to enjoy visiting one of the many orchards along the roads that surround the heart of the city. Each season features new crops such as cherries, peaches, apples, and strawberries. Don’t forget to buy some of the luscious jams, jellies, and preserves that are made using these ripe fruits, and which are a justly famous staple of the south.
